Queensland gas project buys more Honeywell software.

Australia Pacific LNG has embarked on a project to integrate its production and asset management data to create real-time visualisations of its operations.

APLNG embarks on process control data project

APLNG is a multi-billion dollar joint venture gas project in Queensland, involving Origin, ConocoPhillips and Sinopec.

The company will use Honeywell Process Solutions' Intuition Executive software to integrate sources of process data and create real-time visualisations of plant data.

APLNG also plans to use a specific Coal Seam Gas operations monitoring add-on, also created by Honeywell, for "data consolidation, analysis and reporting".

The rollout represents a significant expansion of Honeywell process systems at APLNG sites.

Last November, Bechtel - the engineering firm contracted by APLNG for plant and infrastructure works - handed Honeywell a deal to supply integrated control and safety systems for the project.

That contract covered the supply of a Honeywell Experion process distributed control system and various safety, fire and security components.

The project covers the development of coal seam gas fields in the Surat and Bowen basins and a gas transmission pipeline to an LNG facility being developed on Curtis Island in Gladstone.

The facility will convert coal seam gas to liquefied natural gas for transportation.

The project is being funded in two tranches. A financial investment decision on phase one was handed down in July last year, amounting to a spend of about $US14 billion.
