Adobe conjures up Serious Magic acquisition
Adobe Systems has announced the acquisition of Serious Magic, a maker of video software and communications tools.

Serious Magic is a privately held company headquartered in Folsom, California and currently ships products including DV Rack, Ultra 2, Ovation, Visual Communicator and Vlog It.

Adobe plans to continue to sell Serious Magic products, and future versions of Adobe's video offerings will include the new acquisition's technologies and software.

"The huge momentum behind Flash video, which is powering everything from online TV shows to YouTube and MySpace, is turbo-charging Adobe's video business," said John Loiacono, senior vice president of Adobe's Creative Solutions Business Unit.

Mark Randall, chief executive at Serious Magic, will join Adobe as chief strategist for dynamic media.

Adobe stated that the acquisition will not have a material financial impact on the company. Terms were not disclosed.
