About 30 percent of some 100 IT executives stated that control of access to critical infrastructure is the most important improvement to achieve for their IT operations.

Concerns over perimeter security ranked a close second. Additionally, another 58 percent of these executives feel that compliance with industry and regulatory standards is the most important goal out of a list of IT-related activities to accomplish in the next 12 months.

Infosecurity, overall, was noted by respondents as the primary concern driving IT improvement priorities over the next two years.

These findings are based on a four-month long survey of 97 CIOs, VPs and directors and managers of both IT and IT security in mid-sized and large organizations. The interviews for the study were conducted by Simon Management Group. Gold Wire Technology, an integrity assurance solutions provider, sponsored the research.
