ABN Amro brings core infrastructure to Sydney

The global securities service provider, which clears more than 16 million trades each day, has rented private areas in data centres in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Sydney and Singapore.

"In each location we've secured part of their core infrastructure related to their trading execution," Equinix Asia Pacific business development senior director David Wilkinson told iTnews.

ABN Amro Clearing run services from 26 global data centre locations. Wilkinson said some of these existing locations were also Equinix facilities but did not have an exact figure.

He said part of the attractiveness of Equinix was that it offered the same services and ecosystems across its global data centre network, making it easier for customers to shift into new markets.

Wilkinson also said that being with Equinix meant being closer to transit providers and potential customers, which could result in savings and new business opportunities.
