The Honourable Stuart Robert, Assistant Minister for Defence launched the Australian Centre for Cyber Security. “I am very encouraged that academia is focussing research on cyber security issues faced by Defence and our nation."
The research and teaching centre, located on UNSW's Canberra campus, will bring together security researchers from industry, defence, government and academia.
The ACCS will enhance UNSW's research in five areas--computer and network security, risk management, international politics and ethics, law, and big data analytics for security.
UNSW had had a fifty plus year relationship with defence and the ACCS will draw on this relationship and a range of relevant communities including political, cyber industry, academic, individual and organisational users.
“This centre is an example of how university research can support the business community and government," said Rector of UNSW Canberra Professor Michael Frater.
