Letter: We need people skills

Aviva's Paul Wood is right when he says in your cover story that information security people focus too much on technology (SC, July, p27).

Surely part of the problem is the pool from which information security professionals are drawn, namely the IT crowd? Being tech-savvy is just part of the equation. What our profession needs just as much is people experts and even an element of anthroplogy to counter the misuses of technology that threatens our livelihood. Too often, IT people see solutions in the flickering lights of the rack mounted equipment they surround themselves with.
