Remote’s chief revenue officer, Chris McNamara, noted, “Talent is literally everywhere around the world and today, the opportunity is not. But, increasingly as the barriers to accessing opportunity are dissolved through remote work and through technology more broadly, we're going to see increased mobility of talent.

"The complexion of the modern workforce will become increasingly international and more and more we will see companies go outside of their national borders in order to find the very best people for a given role.”

McNamara’s role gives him insight to his clients’ frontline benefits of distributed hiring, which top line gives companies access to a global talent base, and provides an accelerated pathway for geographic expansion, without the overheads.

For employees, the flexibility of remote work ushers in a new dynamic to work-life balance, employee satisfaction escalates and career opportunities are not limited by geography or other diversity limitations.

Recent LinkedIn data suggests that remote job posts represent around 15 percent of total listings on the platform, but account for over 50 percent of total job applications.

“We employ over 20,000 people on behalf of our customers, and we are in the business of understanding our legal and compliance obligations in all of those countries. We know that establishing an office is an incredibly expensive piece of infrastructure and maintaining those office environments is very difficult to do," McNamara said. 

Supply-side demand is high for a flexible globally distributed work future and in the global fight for skilled employees and staff retention, McNamara said the message is simply: adapt or face an imminent HR crisis.
