The NBN under a microscope The NBN under a microscope

After NBN Co decided to abandon its three-year construction plan in the days before Christmas 2016, iTnews spent the following two months painstakingly pulling together thousands of lines of data to reconstruct the crucial document.

The three-year construction plan - which details which areas will get what technology and when - is integral to ensuring transparency in the rollout of Australia's biggest-ever infrastructure project. Its official replacement - an online map and address checker function - is just not enough to provide a macro view of the $49 billion-plus taxpayer-funded project.

iTnews' reconstructed rollout plan captures the full perspective of the impending build as at March 2017, to restore some of the oversight that has slowly been eroded from the project over many years, and allow the paying public to once more track NBN Co against its stated progress.
