A Victorian software developer that created a widget for touchscreen access to Australian weather forecasts has won Internode’s chumby competition.

The ISP launched the competition late last year after launching the cult Internet device locally.

At the time, only one widget available had been developed in Australia, but since the competition there are now 18, according to Richard Burke, content and communications co-ordinator for Internode’s content services group.

The Australian Weather Radar widget streams the latest satellite image of Australia from the Bureau of Meteorology.

It provides touchscreen access to weather data including the four latest images, current temperatures of the capital cities and forecast information for each city.

The developer, thinkquick, won a chumby, a copy of Adobe Flash CS4 Professional and an $800 credit towards Internode services.

The Scenic Route game also picked up a prize.
