A 30-year-old Victorian man has been fined for steering his car with his knees while attempting to transfer data between two mobile phones.

Acting Sergeant Rob Atkinson from the Chelsea Traffic Management Unit in Victoria branded it as "probably one of the worst cases of careless driving" seen in his ten years of policing.
Atkinson said an officer in an unmarked car pulled alongside the Honda in the Eastlink tunnel citybound at 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon.
The car was swerving in the far left lane, the officer said.
He watched as the driver, with one finger on the steering wheel, pressed buttons on the mobile phones he had in each hand, Police said.
When asked his reason for driving with two mobile phones he stated that he had one finger on the steering wheel and had to transfer information.
The driver was issued two penalty notices, carrying three demerit points and a $514 in fines.
