Achieves auDA domain accreditation.

VentraIP has set up a wholesale division that will handle the web hosting, SSL and domain name registration products it offers resellers.

VentraIP creates wholesale business

The web hosting company told users last night it had been accredited by the domain name registrar, auDA.

It had held a provisional accreditation since October last year and sold domain names via a reseller, DistributeIT.

Chief executive Cheyne Jonstone said VentraIP would continue its relationship with DistributeIT despite becoming accredited itself.

"We still need to be a reseller [of theirs] for generic top level domains," he said.

"We also buy other services from them as well."

VentraIP had spent a year developing its own domain name reseller platform.

Jonstone said the company would split into retail and wholesale businesses over the next year.

The new business, VentraIP Wholesale, would offer domain names, web hosting and SSL services that resellers could offer to their customers.

The web hosting and SSL reseller products currently sat under the VentraIP brand but would be transitioned to the wholesale business in the next six-to-12 months, Jonstone said.
