The Commonwealth Bank's NetBank portal appears to be working again after what may have been a day-long nationwide outage for the service.

Update: CBA NetBank back online after major outage
Earlier today, a spokesperson for the bank confirmed to iTnews that they had received reports of 'intermittent difficulties' in accessing the service, but claimed that the issues had been resolved.

However, readers disputed this statement, claiming the entire CBA site had been down most of the day.

“We are aware that a small number of customers are experiencing intermittent difficulties when accessing the Group via the internet,” a Bank spokesperson told iTnews.

“We have identified the cause and are restoring access immediately.

“We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers and any experiencing difficulties are advised to use telephone banking or visit one of our branches.”

No further information was available on the nature of the service interruption.

CBA has been contacted for additional comment on the extent of the outage.

However, the service appeared to have resumed normal operations by 6.00PM AEDT.
