Underground hacker forum taken offline

An alleged underground forum used by hackers to sell logins and financial data has been hacked and taken offline.

Mikko Hypponen, chief research officer at F-Secure, claimed that the web forum named ‘PakBugs' was an ‘underground' forum where people discussed hacking techniques and sold malware code, bank logins and stolen credit card numbers.

“But now, Pakbugs is gone,” said Hypponen. “[It] turns out someone hacked this hacker forum and posted the results to the full disclosure mailing list. The pakbugs.com website is currently unavailable. We don't expect it to return.”

The oakbugs.com report to full disclosure, posted last weekend, claimed that ‘these are mostly based in Pakistan involved in illegal actions which include carding, hacking, cracking etc.' The report, posted by ‘WAR Against Cyber Crime' claimed: “I am including this list of their users for law enforcement agencies to investigate and take action where necessary. Currently their site is hosted by pacificcrack.com's server.”

Hypponen claimed that what was made available was the full user list of the forum with logins, email addresses and password hashes. A screen-grab made available by F-Secure detailed 27 users with their username and email clearly detailed.
