Websense has warned of malware that claims to be a download for a Skype Email Toolbar.
It claimed that there is currently a ‘very low' anti-virus detection for the spam email message, which contains a file attachment named SkypeToolbarForOutlook.zip that contains a backdoor Trojan.
Carl Leonard, security research manager at Websense Security Labs, whose ThreatSeeker Network discovered the new wave of email attacks, claimed that the amount of spam is not large, but he believed that it will increase.
He said: “At the moment, detection levels are low, with only six out of the top 42 anti-virus engines picking this up. While the amount of the spam so far is not large, we believe it will increase, and we want the public to be aware of the scam before it grows.”
