The contract, awarded under the ongoing $9 million Department of Defense Enterprise Software Initiative contract for Common Access Card (CAC) Middleware, provides the Marine Corps with enterprise licenses of SSP-Litronic's NetSign CAC middleware, the company said.
The NetSign CAC will allow Marine Corps personnel to gain secure access to networks, digitally sign and encrypt communications, and use other PKI-enabled applications. The product support mulitple applications on a single smart card, which in this case is the DoD's Common Access Card.
"The combination of NetSign CAC and the DoD CAC ID helps safeguard both physical and digital assets from the base entrance to the desktop," Jim Prohaska, SSP-Litronic's senior vice president of business development, public sector, said in a prepared statement.
