Network video and IP-based security vendor Axis Communications has announced two new Australia and New Zealand distributors.

Axis Communications has signed South Australia's Hills Electronic Security Group to move its network video gear in Australia and across the ditch, with wireless specialist LAN1 Distribution to shift its products in NZ only.

Michael Siccita, a sales and development manager at Hills Electronic Security Group, said Axis network cameras and video servers complemented Hills' range of video-over-IP and could bridge older analog surveillance systems to digital.

Liam Venter, general manager at NZ's LAN1 Distribution, said Axis was the market leader in network video. “We were very keen to gain distribution of their range...Axis products dovetail with our existing wireless range from Proxim,” Venter said.

Wong Wai King, sales manager at Axis Communications in Australia, said the deals would broaden the company's access to security industry resellers in both Australia and NZ.

Axis network cameras and video servers are used for security, remote monitoring and broadcasting, enabling off-site monitoring, digital recording and storing and higher image quality than older, analog closed circuit TV systems, according to Axis.

Axis Communications' parent company is headquartered in Sweden and listed on the Stockholm bourse. The company has offices in 14 countries and serves distributors, system integrators and OEM partners in 70 countries.
