The CDs contain personal information of 2.2 million active and inactive voters, according to the newspaper report, but only the SSNs of 1.3 million city voters.
Peter Zelchenko, an aldermanic candidate in the 43rd Ward, is suing the city, claiming the board violated the Illinois Personal Information Protection Act and seeking unspecified damages for all affected voters.
"You couldn’t have come up with a better threat for identity fraud if you had orchestrated it, Zelchenko told the Sun-Times.
