Seven fixes for Microsoft's Patch Tuesday

Microsoft announced today it plans to release seven patches – three repairing "critical" vulnerabilities – as part of its monthly security update on Tuesday.

Seven fixes for Microsoft's Patch Tuesday
The three critical bulletins repair holes in DirectX, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Format, which supports Windows Media Player, according to a pre-release notification.

The four less critical fixes, labeled "important," sew up holes in Window; two repair vulnerabilities in Vista.

It is likely one of those important patches fixes a vulnerability in the Macrovision sedrv.sys driver on supported editions of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP operating systems. Microsoft last month warned of limited attacks exploiting the flaw.

The busier Patch Tuesday comes one month after Microsoft released just two fixes.
