An Indian security researcher arrested last week over the leak of an electronic voting machine was granted bail, according to Indian news agency PTI.

Researcher Hari Prasad was one of three people who uncovered security flaws in the machines that they said could be exploited by "dishonest election insiders or other criminals".

PTI reported that Prasad was released on a 25,000 rupee ($595) bond.

India's Election Commission was also asked to "approve or disapprove" claims the voting machines could be tampered with.
