Qantas-owned TripADeal welcomes new head of digital marketing

The online travel business announced via LinkedIn the appointment of Hoier to its team.

“Bringing with him an executive MBA and almost two decades of experience in the digital marketing space across tourism, travel, real estate, education, and more, Ross is poised to join the TAD team at a pivotal and exciting time.

“With a combined passion for making travel dreams come true and expertise in digital enablement, we are thrilled to have Ross on board for this journey,” the post said.

The appointment follows as Qantas announced it was purchasing the remaining 49 percent of TripADeal for $211 million by the end of June 2024.

Qantas said this will fast-track its “loyalty’s exposure to the growing $13 billion online holiday packages market” [pdf].

The company said the news “marks an incredible milestone in our 13-year journey, opening up even more exciting opportunities for our customers and team so that we can continue our ultimate goal of making travel dreams come true.

“With this acquisition, we are honoured to introduce Matthew Wolfenden as our newly appointed CEO.

“Matt has been an integral part of TripADeal for over seven years and is more than ready to lead us into this new era with his passion and dedication to our mission.

“TripADeal will continue to operate and run as an independent organisation, driving our achievements to new heights with our incredibly talented internal team based in our Byron Bay HQ and Gold Coast Offices,” the company said.

On his new appointment, Hoier said via LinkedIn given Qantas’ “100 percent acquisition of TripADeal it’s an exciting time to be joining the business and the opportunity to be a part of the next phase of growth”.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to partner with Matthew, Dwayne, Erin, Jade and the wider digital team Deborah, Jenna, Maddison as well as everyone in the business - to add value and contribute to achieving shared successful outcomes.

“What Norm and Rich alongside all of the business have built over the last 13+ years is amazing - opening up even more exciting opportunities for our customers and team so that TripADeal can continue on the ultimate goal of making travel dreams come true,” Hoier said.
