Perimeter Internetworking, a provider of managed network and security services for community financial institutions, healthcare companies and service providers has acquired the assets of US Networks Inc., a managed network and security services provider headquartered in Raleigh, NC.

Forming a combined client base of over 1,600, this merger will create a company offering both managed network and security services.

"You cannot separate availability and performance from security and clients today and expect one trusted provider to address all issues related to their network," said Brad Miller, chief executive officer of Perimeter.

"In that respect Perimeter will leverage US Networks' cross-functional expertise in dealing with network security, network management and helpdesk while US Networks' clients will benefit from an additional 50 managed security services beyond managed firewall, IDS and email anti-virus. Perimeter will also adopt a newly developed email content filtering service developed by US Networks," he said.

The merger will see US Networks provide a security operations center to Perimeter's existing infrastructure. The Raleigh location will become Perimeter's fourth business location and will serve as the combined firm's primary monitoring facility. Perimeter also maintains offices in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Charlotte, NC, and headquarters in Milford, Conn.
