PatchLink, a supplier of patch management software, acquired Moonlight Systems, a developer of configuration management software, as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Moonlight Systems' web-based, cross-platform technology complements PatchLink's patch and vulnerability management solutions, executives said.

"Patch management addresses security-related software defects while configuration management covers incorrectly configured software and services, both of which could lead to security breaches," PatchLink CEO Sean Moshir said in a statement.

Moonlight Systems launched in early 2002 with 40 employees and targeted the large enterprise market, a PatchLink spokesperson said.

Engineers from PatchLink and Moonlight already are working to integrate the companies' technologies, according to the spokesperson.
