Oracle has introduced its Management Pack for Linux, a Linux management system for users of Oracle Unbreakable Linux.

Based on Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g, the Management Pack provides Unbreakable Linux support programme customers with Linux server lifecycle management.

"Today's announcement reinforces our commitment to deliver better Linux support and manageability at lower prices," said Wim Coekaerts, vice president of Linux engineering at Oracle.

Launched in October 2006, Oracle Unbreakable Linux provides enterprises with global support for Linux at what the company claims to be a lower cost than existing Linux support offerings.

With the Oracle Management Pack for Linux, the Oracle Unbreakable Linux programme now offers system and application administrators the tools to provision, patch, monitor and administer Linux servers independently or in the context of their application environments.

Unbreakable Linux customers can manage Linux servers and the applications and databases they host using a single integrated system, Oracle claimed.

The firm added that the integrated capabilities provide users with a complete real-time view of Linux environments, enabling increased operational efficiency and reduced downtime and associated costs.
