Oracle is to add new project portfolio management (PPM) solutions to its enterprise software line with the acquisition of Primavera Software for an undisclosed sum.

Oracle acquires Primavera Software
Primavera provides companies with more control when planning project investments and offers new project management capabilities, according to Oracle.

"Enterprise PPM is moving to the forefront of business strategy for industries managing complex and capital-intensive projects, and has emerged as a global driver for value creation and business success," said Oracle president Charles Phillips.

Primavera chief executive Joel Koppelman added: "Primavera is a natural addition to accelerate Oracle's application strategy for project-intensive industries."

The deal follows Oracle's purchase of Advanced Visual Technology (AVT) on 1 October. The database giant did not disclose details of the financial transactions for either AVT or Primavera.
