Australian box builder Optima Technology Solutions has made its first foray into the storage market with its Vizon Storage Servers, a self-contained IP SAN box aimed at medium businesses, remote offices and small data centres.

The server includes a range of advanced storage pooling features and services provided by Falconstor’s IPStor iSCSI technology, Optima said. It can be used for centralised backup and fast restore activities or be built with advanced features for mission-critical environments, the company said.

"It's easy to use, supports IP SAN and most importantly - is available at a low price point, making it an ideal solution for anyone considering networked storage," said Ole Mortensen, product marketing manager at Optima.

The machine ships with an Intel Xeon processor, 12GB of DDR2 memory and redundant power and fans. It starts at $9999 (ex.GST) for 1TB and is available to the reseller channel.
