Open Text launched a new mobile strategy today with an ambitious roadmap and new applications designed to empower mobile workers by helping to boost productivity.
The enterprise content management giant quoted new figures from analyst firm IDC predicting that the number of mobile workers accessing enterprise systems worldwide will top one billion this year.
The vendor launched its Open Text Everywhere program with a mission to enable chief information officers to "extend the productivity power of mobility across their business".
The first set of apps, which will be available in May on the BlackBerry platform, will allow users to browse and manage email and other content stored in the Open Text ECM Suite, as well as initiate, approve and reject workflows, and exploit the firm's social and collaboration tools.
Open Text said that mobile web site content management capabilities and mobile apps for its eDOCS document management solution for the mid-market will arrive later this year and early 2011.
