Nokia and graphics card vendor, ATI Technologies, has signed an agreement to bring multimedia to Nokia’s mobile phone range.

ATI will dedicate its products and software development kit (SDK) for multimedia developers in late 2006.

Ilkka Raiskinen, senior vice president, mobile experience Nokia, said the multimedia technology used for its phones would be open standards and provides integrated hardware, software and tools.

Developers have the next 12 to 18 months to create mobile multimedia content including music playback, 3D gaming, mobile TV, video and more for Nokia mobile device users worldwide, she said.

ATI and Nokia will hold a series of joint workshops in the second half of this year to show-off the technology to developers.
