NGM Group hires ex-Bendigo and Adelaide Bank CIO

Newcastle Greater Mutual Group has tapped former Bendigo and Adelaide Bank chief information officer Andrew Cresp as its new CIO.

Cresp joins NGM Group, a formation of Greater Bank and Newcastle Permanent Building Society, after four-and-a-half years with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

He left the company last August, with Nathalie Moss stepping into his role on an acting basis.

An NGM Group spokesperson said: "Cresp’s role is pivotal in delivering a more simplified and modernised bank that can respond quickly to ever changing customer needs, allowing our data to be reliable and relevant for our customers, and strengthening the group’s cyber resilience.

"His leadership will ensure NGM Group’s platforms and operations remain robust, reliable and ready to meet future challenges."

Meanwhile, Cresp called the move "an incredible opportunity".

"Technology plays a critical role in shaping better banking experiences, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to deliver smart, secure and forward-thinking solutions that truly make a difference for our customers and communities," he told iTnews.

He added that he was "eager to contribute to help simplify and modernise [the] organisation". 

Following its merger in March 2023, NGM Group took a number of steps to refine its IT strategy and team structure, which saw several departures and appointments, including Newcastle Permanent’s chief technology officer Jodi Stapleton.

Meanwhile, Newcastle Permanent’s chief customer and product officer James Cudmore was elevated to the role of chief customer and digital innovation officer.

In its 2023 annual report [pdf], the bank also noted plans to integrate its IT systems and “to invest significantly in technology”.

In August last year, the group unveiled a new virtual customer service portal and revealed its cloud uplift priorities.
