The bank said it would pay the “$450 annual cost” of the platform “for eligible small business customers for one year”, after which they would need to pay, albeit at a discounted rate.

The offer covers environments of up to 150 devices. The bank said small businesses could apply “via the NAB app, internet banking, or by speaking to [their] banker.”

NAB chief security officer Sandro Bucchianeri said in a statement that the platform was intended “to support and reinforce SME defences against ransomware, data breaches, and cyber threats.”

“The number of cyber attacks continues to grow year on year, and it’s worrying that small and medium businesses – which make up 97 percent of all Australian businesses – are one of the least cyber prepared sectors,” Bucchianeri said.

“NAB is doing what it can to help lift the cyber security resilience of our customers.

“By working with CrowdStrike, we are looking to connect and educate businesses, so they can help stop attacks before they stop business.”

NAB said the offer complemented other security-related services for customers, “including a free cyber security assessment in partnership with Microsoft.”
