Microsoft revamps MSN Mobile portal
USA - Microsoft has launched its revamped MSN Mobile portal for mobile phone users.

Available in the US from mobile browsers at mobile.msn.com, the service offers email, news, sports, entertainment, local movie listings, maps and directions.

It also features Windows Live offerings such as Hotmail, Messenger, Spaces and Live Search.

Roughly 180 million of the more than 230 million US mobile subscribers have web-enabled phones, according to Local Mobile Search, a joint advisory service from Opus Research and Sterling Market Intelligence.

FOXSports.com, MSN's online sports partner, will serve as MSN Mobile's exclusive sports channel in the US, providing fans with content designed specifically for mobile devices.

In addition to news, scores and player updates, FOXSports.com on MSN Mobile will allow fans to browse through team pages, stats, game schedules and stories.

Microsoft said that it is also pursuing alliances with operators to integrate MSN Mobile into their own Wap home pages.

Although the mobile offering is currently only available in the US, Microsoft said that services for other worldwide markets will follow throughout 2007.
