The company, which counts IGA Distribution, Campbell's Cash & Carry and Australian Liquor Marketers as brands, said it would invest in SAP finance, treasury and risk management, property management and compliance modules.

It planned to implement SAP financials over an initial twelve month period.

Fujitsu Australia was appointed the systems integrator, and would provide "up to 20 SAP consultants" to the Metcash site.

Fujitsu recently purchased Supply Chain Consulting's SAP business, which was said to have bolstered its standing in the tender process.

"SAP will enable Metcash to bring together previously disparate third party products like Fixed Assets, Real Estate and Claim-backs into an integrated, controlled environment, increasing visibility and financial and operational efficiencies," said Adrian Gratwicke, general manager of finance at Metcash Australia.
