Bell has spent 30 years as a business consultant with Deloitte across Australia, Canada, Southeast Asia and New Zealand.

Fletcher Building chief executive Mark Adamson said Bell’s experience in managing the implementation of complex IT programs would be invaluable to the company.

“[Bell] will be responsible for delivering our IT strategy, which includes rationalisation of our core systems together with building out our new digital platforms,” Adamson said in a statement. The company has been approached for further detail.

Bell replaces former CIO Carl Powell, who resigned from the position and returned to the UK in early August.

During his time Powell created a company-wide IT strategy for Fletcher Building, following a general review of the company’s systems and structures.

Fletcher said it was two years into the review process at the time of Powell’s resignation, having created a division tasked with developing new digital services.

“We’ve made huge progress over the past two years in planning our IT program, and implementation is well underway as we modernise our systems and look to the future with a suite of customer focus service innovations in development,” Adamson said.

Aside from its Tradelink plumbing distribution business, Fletcher Building is best known in Australia for its portfolio of building supply products, which includes Formica, Laminex, Gerard Roofing Systems, Iplex pipes and Rocla Quarries.
