But no increase in spending.

Enex Testlabs' contract with the Department of Broadband Communications and the Digital Economy to provide technical advice on content filtering is up for review next month.

The department this week released a summary [PDF] of its yearly buying plan.

An item referred to "technical advice and assistance relating to the test of content filtering products and services".

The Government will cast for tenders next month.

Government and Enex spokesmen declined to comment on the contract.

But iTnews understands the tender notice is related to the impending expiry of the department's contract with Enex, which services the first round of the Government's controversial internet filtering trials.

Like other Government authorities, the department must call for public tenders before appointing a consultancy to continue the project.

There is no indication it will increase spending.

Enex director Matt Tett said most such contracts the labs held "generally, are tendered every year".

"We have several contracts and have done so for many years with DCITA [the Department of Communications, IT and the Arts] and now DBCDE for several of their divisions from broadband to content, all around testing and related technical advisory roles," Tett said.
