eEye Digital Security on Monday rolled out a new version of its REM Management Console, featuring increased scalability, a new interface, and the ability to be integrated with third-party products.

The web-based REM Management Console is part of eEye's Enterprise Vulnerability Management Suite, which includes its Retina network vulnerability scanner, and gives a company a full view of security events across a distributed network plus a way to automate remediation.

The software tries to bridge the gap between the vulnerability assessment work performed by security administrators and the remediation duties of IT managers, said Firas Raouf, chief operating officer at eEye Digital Security.

"The clear trend we're seeing is that vulnerability management is becoming part of day-to-day IT operations," he said in an interview.

REM Management Console 2.0 can be integrated with third-party products that IT departments have already installed to help with remediation, such as help desk applications and asset management tools, he said.

The software also features an improved interface with executive summary reports, and enhanced database scalability.
