Dead Rising comes to life on Xbox 360
Japanese games developer Capcom said this week that Dead Rising, the company's first game for Microsoft's Xbox 360, has shipped more than 500,000 copies within the first two weeks of its launch.

Dead Rising was released on 8 August in North America and is scheduled for release on 8 September in Europe and on 28 September in Japan.

In preparation for its transition to the next-generation gaming platform Capcom has been concentrating on creating titles for foreign markets while seeking to improve its marketing, sales and business operations functions in North America.

Capcom claimed that Dead Rising's early success is attributable to these changes.

The game is an action horror adventure that follows the tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist who stumbles across a small suburban town completely overrun by zombies.

Charles Bellfield, vice president of marketing at Capcom Entertainment, said: "The success of the game is a result of Capcom's recognition of the Xbox 360 system's possibilities and starting development early on."
