It is unknown exactly how many customers have been affected. Both AAP and ABC News are reporting that the number could be as high as 200,000.

A CBA spokesperson has apologised and moved to reassure customers that no-one will be charged fees or interest 'as a result of this problem’.

“Transaction duplications were the result of a processing problem overnight,” the spokesperson confirmed to iTnews.

“The Bank is continuing to work to identify the cause. Our technical teams are working to rectify the issue and reverse these duplicated transactions as a priority.”

The spokesperson advised any customers impacted ‘and who are seeking immediate cash [to] visit one of our branches’.
