After 12 months at manufacturer Acer Computer, Michael Calculli is back in the channel, taking up a position as channel sales manager at one of Australia's largest PC assemblers, Optima Technology Solutions.

Calculli was most recently the NSW government sales representative at Acer Computer Australia. He said this position was just a sales role, and he was looking for a management position. “I enjoy working in the channel [as opposed to] direct selling,” he said. Prior to Acer, he was with SMC Networks in Australia.

Calculli has 17 years experience in sales, marketing and management positions at companies like failed distributor Agate Technologies, Ingram Micro and Imagineering (Tech Pacific).

“The timing could not have been better in joining Optima, with their market share now at 5.6 percent, becoming the number five PC vendor in Australia, according to the latest IDC figures for Q2 to Q3,” he said.

While at Optima, he intends to recruit new channel partners working in the SMB market. “Of the top five vendors, Optima is the only PC manufacturer that is 100 percent committed to the channel, when it comes to SMB,” he claimed.
