Businesses are failing to take advantage of mobile communications because of a lack of planning, according to new research..

Businesses lack strategy on mobility
A BT Global Services survey of 375 executives across Europe and North America asked chief information officers if they had a mobile strategy.

"Two-thirds of them did not. They did not know what they were doing with mobile, so this is quite a worry," said Rakesh Mahajen, global director of mobility at BT Global Services.

"The number one issue is cost and the number two issue is security. They want it cheaper and they want to make it more secure."

Mahajen admitted that the industry has not done very well at understanding customers, and that their demands are much higher than the services being delivered.

"Basically, we cannot meet the basic requirements of our customers," he said. "Two-thirds of our customers do not know what they want, but those we surveyed said that they are not getting what they want anyway."
