Distributor Avnet Partner Solutions has signed its first partner for its Australian ESP program, an internet resource management software vendor called VisionGateway.

Avnet will bundle VisionGateway's InterScepter software with IBM hardware and ship it via its Australian and New Zealand resellers. The deal is an extension of the companies' North American distribution deal signed in May.

Michael Costigan, marketing director at Avnet, said US-based VisionGateway was an "emerging leader" in internet resource management.

"VisionGateway is an ISV that Avnet is working with to take to the world market," he said.

Avnet had already helped the software vendor establish its presence in North America via the ESP program, Costigan said.

Avnet's ESP program helped generated IBM hardware and middleware sales for ISVs, enabling the latter to make extra revenue on top of sales of their own products.

Michael Bromley, chief operating officer at VisionGateway, said the vendor would use Avnet's ESP program to deliver "turnkey solutions" for internet resource management to the market via Avnet resellers.

Avnet Partner Solutions is a value-added distributor for IBM and a division of US-based Avnet Technology Solutions.

The parent holding company Avnet Inc reported revenue of about US$10 billion for the financial year ended 3 July, via sales in 68 countries.

VisionGateway is listed on the Nasdaq in the US.
