Following departure of Tim Spiteri.

The Australian Federal Police is looking for a new chief information security officer following the departure of Tim Spiteri.

Australian Federal Police start search for CISO

The force said in a recruitment advertisement that the new CISO will “shape and execute” its cyber security strategy, “including the delivery of cyber security operations and the associated capability uplift”.

They will also be asked to mature “the information security governance structure” and to “champion a cyber-aware Security culture across the organisation”, among other requirements.

An impending change to the role was apparent late last year when the force’s organisation chart showed the CISO role as being shared between Tim Spiteri and Benjamin Lamont.

Until that time, Lamont had been listed as the manager of technology strategy and data.

Lamont now appears on the org chart as the sole holder of the CISO title; however, iTnews understands this is in an acting capacity while a permanent replacement is sought following Spiteri’s departure.

It’s understood Lamont will remain with the AFP once a new permanent CISO is found; it was unclear if he would move back to his previous role or to another in the technology division.
