Austrade will add social media components to its website by the end of May that it hopes will assist it to attract sources of inward investment to Australian business.

The trade and investment development agency said that site visitors - Australian exporters and overseas investors and buyers - will soon be able to search for video and audio content of interest to them.

Content will be displayed in the browser or fed through Apple's iTunes as a podcast or vodcast for customers that need mobile access to information.

It can also be referenced through Facebook and Twitter, according to the agency.

The site upgrade, expected to be completed next month, relies on Elcom's CommunityManager.NET web development platform to dynamically deliver specific content to site users.

Elcom has acted as Austrade's web developer and host for "over two years", an Austrade spokesperson said.

Elcom was recently placed on the ‘Whole of Government ICT suppliers list' until February 2012, one of only 200 local companies to successfully apply for the position.

The company is also said to be working on a new module for CommunityManager.NET that enables Government organisations on a Federal, State and Local level to manage content and documents, share information and collaborate.
