Latest release of open source J2EE application server.

Apache on warpath with Geronimo 1.1
The Apache Software Foundation has released version 1.1 of its Geronimo open source J2EE application server.

Along with new features, the latest release introduces structural changes designed to improve scalability, portability and overall organisation.

An improved configuration and management console aims to ease access to the application's new plug-in architecture.

The launch was accompanied by the unveiling of Geronimo's younger sibling, Little G version 1.1, a lightweight application server for applications that do not need the full J2EE feature set.

Designed for web service and SOA deployments, Little G brings the features of Apache Geronimo to a lightweight, non-J2EE footprint.

The software is available now for free download from the Apache Geronimo website.
