Gaming hardware specialist Alienware has shown off a prototype curved screen designed to mimic peripheral vision..

The 2880 x 900 resolution monitor is the equivalent of two 19in screens side by side, but the screen curves towards the viewer at the edges.

Alienware claims that this makes the screen image more in tune with what a person would actually see.

The screen comprises four DLP panels joined together, and offers a claimed response rate of 0.02ms, better than any LCD on the market.

Alienware said that the monitor will be in production in the summer but would not be drawn on price.

Videos of the screen in action can be seen here.
