Nominations are now open for the 2008 SC Magazine Awards, which salute the security industry's best products, services and professionals.

Now in their 11th year, the SC Magazine Awards serve as a barometer for the security industry, highlighting the best and brightest companies and IT security professionals in North America.

This year's program features 30 categories, including the popular Reader Trust Awards, which are selected in voting by SC Magazine subscribers, the Excellence Awards, and the Professional Awards. The Reader Trust Awards include categories for the best of anti-spam, web filtering, multi- and second-factor authentication, audit and vulnerability assessment, event/policy management, and more.

The Excellence Awards, decided by an expert panel of 17 industry leaders assisted with input from nominees and, in some cases, test results from West Coast Labs, honour the security market’s best security companies and products. They include categories for the top security solutions targeting the SMEs and enterprises marketplaces and regulatory compliance as well as the No. 1 security vendor and the security rookie-of-the-year.

The Professional Awards recognise the industry’s leading security professionals and certification and training programs. These include Editor's Choice Award, presented by US SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Illena Armstrong, the CSO of the Year Award and the best security team.

Nominations are open until 14 September, with changes to the nominated products and services closing on 21 September. Voting for the Readers Choice Awards begins Oct. 1. The winners of the SC Magazine Awards 2008 will be announced 8 April, 2008, in San Francisco in conjunction with the annual RSA Conference.

Nearly 10,000 SC Magazine readers took part in the 2007 version of the awards, and more than 500 industry leaders attended the 2007 SC Magazine Awards Gala in San Francisco.
