PayPal is celebrating its 15th birthday and is partying like it's 1998 with the launch of PayPal Galactic.

PayPal President David Marcus said space tourism is opening up to all of us in the next decade or so, and he wants to make sure that PayPal is the preferred way to pay from space.

But beyond the fanciful, PayPal Galactic will investigate what our standard currency will look like in a “truly cash-free interplanetary society”, how banking systems will have to adapt, the need for risk and fraud management systems to evolve, and the regulations that will need to be complied with.
