Blackberry believes some users still prefer a physical keyboard over a touchscreen, and has launched its Q10 smartphone which will go on sale from July 1 in Australia. The Blackberry Q10 features a QWERTY keyboard, 3.1-inch OLED 720 by 720 pixel touch display and support for LTE 4G broadband.

Rear of the Blackberry Q10 shows the 8 megapixel camera that can record video in 1080p high definition.

The Blackberry Q10 runs the new Blackberry 10 touch-enabled operating system that uses swipes to access applications and features such as the Hub. The new BlackBerry 10 OS brings a new set of features to the platform that the company hopes will appeal to smartphone users and bring it on par with Android and Apple devices. These include the BlackBerry Hub for messaging and contacts, HTML5 and Adobe Flash support, voice control and BlackBerry Messenger.

The Q10 is slim despite having a physical keyboard and sports a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 2GB RAM. Internal storage is 16GB and can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD cards.

A white model of the Q10 will also be available.

The Q10 supports LTE 4G broadband on Optus and Telstra's networks and the two carriers will sell the phone along with JB HiFi and Harvey Norman. Pricing is yet to be announced.
