Photos: Apple launches iPad 2 tablet

Apple will ship both black and white versions of its iPad 2 in Australia from March 25 - an announcement that drew applause from eager fans at today's launch.

Apple has completely revamped its old case for the iPad, transforming it into a magnetic overlay that protects the screen but still can be converted into a stand.

Apple shows how the cover sits on top of the screen but peels back, waking up the device in the process.

Once completely peeled back, the smart screen folds underneath the iPad 2, giving the same angled screen view as the case for the original iPad.

Apple shows off a range of new colours for its smart screen - not just the standard black that it shipped for the original iPad.

The iPad2 has two cameras, opening the device up to Apple's FaceTime video calling app.
