Phishing losses not so large

The dollar value of phishing-related fraud losses are far less than commonly cited, according research firm the TowerGroup. The firm estimated the losses attributable to phishing to total $137 million in 2004. Others have pegged the U.S. consumer loss at around $500 million. www.towergroup.com
