Aon uses Postini for mail security

By

Risk management and reinsurance giant Aon is deploying mail encryption across its UK operation, using email security service provider Postini to switch on TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption at its mail gateways.

The company will roll out group-wide mail encryption by the end of the first quarter this year, said Robert Ife, VP of global risk management at Aon. "We are using TLS between mail gateways rather than leaving it up to the users. Users won't bother or will forget: we want it completely transparent."

Ife faces the challenges of clients unable to support encryption, and of global policy consistency. For example, Aon's US business uses MessageLabs for email security.
