The pace at which new cyber threats are hitting Australian organisations is unrelenting.
The Australian Signals Directorate witnessed a 12 percent increase in calls to its Australian Cyber Security Hotline in 2023-24, hitting 36,700 for the 12 months, but this represents only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the real volume of attacks hitting Australian organisations every second of every day.
Rapid growth in the volume and sophistication of cyber-attacks is placing unprecedented strain on Australia’s security operations centres (SOCs), which find themselves understaffed, under-resourced, and playing a non-stop game of catch up with an adversary who only needs to win once to claim victory.
